Review by hotel critic
I recently had the pleasure of staying at Hostel Jofre in La Serena, and I must say, there’s much to appreciate here, especially regarding its excellent value for money. For just over 7 GBP a night, I enjoyed a clean and comfortable room, which, despite being a dormitory-style, felt quite cozy and private. One of the standout features of this hostel is the shared kitchen. This facility allows guests to prepare meals, adding convenience and saving money—perfect for travelers like me who appreciate French cuisine but are on a budget. Antonio, the owner, was quite accommodating, offering helpful insights into local tours and attractions, which made navigating this charming town more manageable. The hostel’s proximity to the bus terminal and Plaza de Armas is another plus; it only takes about a 10-minute stroll to reach them. While my experience was mostly positive, I did encounter inconsistency with the hot water during my stay, which could be a bit inconvenient if you're looking to unwind after a long day. Hostel Jofre is ideal for budget-conscious travelers who prioritize cleanliness and a good location while not requiring luxury amenities.
